Evaluation Report September 08 - September 09

The objectives of the association are to:

·        Support local coordinators and others involved in Neighbourhood Watch

·        Help recruit new members and establish new schemes

·        Liaise with the police

This third report reflects on progress made on these objectives and to look to future work planned or required to further achieve our objectives.

Support local coordinators and others involved in neigbourhood watch

Progress this year

1.      Coordinators’ meeting was cancelled due to lack of support

2.      Currently, the number of houses covered is 3,889 out of a total of over 16,000 giving 24% coverage but within the district the coverage ranges from 59% on the Malling estate in Lewes to 7% in Wivelsfield. Each month we distribute 2,300 paper copies of the newsletter, the rest going by email.

Further work

1.      Review the annual coordinators’ meeting

Help recruit new members and establish new schemes

Progress this year

1.      The association had a stand at the Lewes Societies Fair on 11 July 2008

2.      We had a stall at the front of Lewes Leisure Centre for the week 15-20 June 2009 promoting Neighbourhood Watch. This proved not to be very successful.

3.      We increased the number of coordinators by 12 and the number of houses covered by over 300

4.      On Saturday18th July we spent the morning recruiting coordinators in Ringmer to great success

Further work

1.      Identify areas in the district which need further support to recruit members and coordinators

2.      We will reconsider where to carry out promotional work in the future

Liaise with the police

Progress this year

1.      The search team was called out twice this year and on one occasion found the missing person, unfortunately he was dead. Further training was undertaken and the number of trained volunteers from Neighbourhood Watch is now 103

Further work
